In May, the Center and the University of Semarang (UNNES) in Indonesia jointly organized a series of courses on "Urban Development and the Impact of Disaster Risk on the Real Estate Market" to provide learning resources for students of the University and the University of Semarang, Indonesia. The lecturers were Professor Gu Jiaan from the Department of Real Estate and Urban-Rural Environment, National Taipei University, Mr. Satya from the University of Semarang (UNNES) in Indonesia, and researcher Li Sharui from the center.

 

A total of 29 students participated in this course. The students were divided into groups to learn, and cases were provided between classes, allowing students to choose to observe cities or regions to compare Taiwan and Indonesia. Then select an environmental risk to assess. Such environmental risks can be: floods, subsidence, pollution, extreme rainfall, wind, heat, drought, typhoons, earthquakes, etc. After class, students are allowed to think freely through problem discussions.


 

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to interact in an international context and to practice English as a medium of communication in a professional context. It is also expected to be practiced by combining knowledge across fields (geography and real estate) into a project.
